Our Background
Sara grew up in the north of Italy, all the women of her family, her two nonnas and her mum, were really passionate about cooking and she remembers them spending long hours preparing and cooking mouthwatering meals and even more delicious for every special occasion or festivities.
Sara showed great ease and passion for cooking ever since she was a little child, first she liked to pretend to cook preparing “magic potions” which her beloved Nonno Luciano used to try.
Keep in mind that she could have put flour, water, sugar, eggs and a drop of dish soap, but still, knowing that, Nonno Luciano always had a taste of Sara’s creation (isn’t that true love?).
Beyond her passion and the heritage and skills that her grandmothers and mum passed her through, Sara worked in a few restaurants and then in hospitality for a long time.
She was the creator and owner of a big holiday accommodation on the south Sardinia coast, near the sea.
She likes tradition and she likes to try new things, her curiosity about other cultures and food, made her cook a true experimentation in the kitchen.
If you ask for a cooking gift that she has, it is that she can create a fabulous meal just by opening the fridge and using whatever she finds in there.
Anna grew up in Australia in an Italian family, where she started to see hours of cooking and preparation for meals and family festivities, as did many Italians of our age.
When she was 23 years old, she moved to Italy and she met the love of her life Silvio, who was an exceptional cook. He instilled in Anna his love for being in the kitchen, especially through cooking together.
They owned and ran restaurants in Italy and then a restaurant and pizzeria in Melbourne, where they moved back to in 2009.
Representing Australia, Silvio won the World Pizza Championships held annually in Parma, Italy in 2016. He was a shy man by nature, but Anna had secretly signed him up for the competition.
Amongst her hospitality experience is her time working beside Michelin star chef, Fulvio Pierangelini in her newfound hometown of San Vincenzo.
Sadly, Silvio passed away in 2022 and because of that Anna struggled to get back to the kitchen, but now with great enthusiasm she wants to honor Silvio’s memory with these cooking classes, passing onto other people the passion and love she inherited from him.
If you ask for a cooking gift that she has, it is that everything she touches and prepares, turns out to be delicious and SPECIALE (that means special, as we say in Italy).
